Description

In this wall-mounted sound-kinetic sculpture, George Koutsouris assembles wood, metal, cork acrylic and various mechanisms into a circular configuration orbiting resonance. Small spheres travel along incised tracks, striking metallic nodes to produce an acoustic echo reminiscent of cascading flow in its absence. Systematic motion establishes sonic continuity, a web of repetitions evoking ceaseles circulation.

The work confronts the substitution of nature by mechanical means, observing how sound inherits the role of a relic of natural experience. Koutsouris orchestrates a spatial apparatus that investigates sonic memory of water and the ways in which natural experience can survive through artificial activation.
