Description

Installed at the entrance of the show ‘Prosodic grains’, the sound installation ‘Invisible walk’ surprises visitors by producing an audio illusion of footsteps on several natural terrains, as they walk on the ‘polished’ and totally different museum floor.

A series of motion sensors on the sides of the installation detect visitors footsteps and trigger real-time playback of sound recordings through a 4-channel loudspeaker system. The sound recordings include many clips of the artist’s own footsteps on shallow water, fallen leaves and seashore pebbles.

Reproduced in high accuracy with the visitors footsteps and with random variations, the playback creates a pretty convincing and highly interactive audio illusion.
